1. What is the price of gas at your regular station? Have you made any changes to holiday plans because of gas prices?
$2.99 although I've seen some for $3.19! No, I'm still heading up to the folks tomorrow to spend some time with my nieces! I think I'd rather conserve on other things than giving and receiving hugs & kisses! :-)
2. Some people feel that the song that was #1 when they were born somehow helps shape their life. Which song was #1 when you were born, according to this site. Do you think it relates to your life at all?
Eight Days A Week - The Beatles
Well, if I think that is how many days I wish I had a week to get everything done that I want to, then it is PERFECT! HA! "They use the shell (which is actually their backbone and ribs) on their backs as their home and can retreat into it when they sense danger. Another way turtles survive is by sensing vibrations in the water through their skin and shell. If a turtle is flipped over when hiding in its shell, it will use its strong neck to flip itself back over. Turtles have slow metabolisms which enable to live a long time.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Turtle teaches us to be careful in new situations and to be patient in reaching our goals. Turtle also teaches us to take things slow, for it gives us time to figure out if we need to protect our self or forge ahead. Turtle shows up in our lives when we need to go into shell and wait until our thoughts & ideas are ready to be expressed. He also teaches us to be adaptable to our environment so we can find the harmony within it."
3. Take this quiz: Which child does it say you are? Is it correct about your birth order?
You Are Likely a Second Born
At your darkest moments, you feel inadequate. At work and school. you do best when you're evaluating. When you love someone, you offer them constructive criticism. In friendship, you tend to give a lot of feedback - positive and negative. Your ideal careers are: accounting, banking, art, carpentry, decorating, teaching, and writing novels. You will leave your mark on the world with art and creative projects.
Well, I'm a first born so no actually, but the description is kinda right. I mean I am a teacher & I do like evaluating situations. I do feel friendships & mates are what life is about...the REAL stuff & want to talk about the deepest parts of life...not just the superficial surface stuff but Politics, Spiritualism, Love ETC! Darkest moment feeling inadequate...you betcha! Like when my foot keeps me down & I can't do what I want to do! I can't stand even having a cold or flu! Too much fun stuff to do in life and not enough time in life! My spirit can do sooo much more than what my body or life sometimes allows me to!
I played with a few of the answers which I knew would make me a first born but that I really don't do & the description said darkest moments guilty...I don't really feel guilty at much of life at all, so that would be wrong. I might say I wonder if I had done this or that instead...."told him..."... but not guilt. At work & school good at research...well everyone was pushing me into research when I was in Stats & Research Methods class. I do it well, as far as what my profs. said but I don't really jump out of bed wanting to do research. I do love asking "Why" (my favorite word...should explain a lot about me & why I'm in Psych!) and finding out why! When I love someone I tend to agree with them often? No, I wouldn't say I disagree often but it is not an extreme either way I don't think. I mean sure when you love someone you probably found a person who you have many things in common, but I do love people who have a different point of view on things & make me think (for shame!) & thus grow. Friendship considerate & compromising? Perhaps...definitely the considerate but the compromising depends on how much...certainly not against my morals etc...choosing where to eat or do something ya! Relationships are give & take. Career & mark on world seem to be at odds...teaching people to dream...I think I do that with my students just in many areas. So maybe I am a bit more second born? Maybe gender makes a difference? Maybe I should talk to my mom & dad? HA!
4. READER'S CHOICE QUESTION #61 from De: What animal do you equate your spirit with and why? (This site may be helpful.)
Good Lord! This one is hard! I think I am taking this one way too seriously but actually I do feel a connection to the spirit of animals & nature!I love being out in the woods & even have brought the woods in my home decoratively! I love water too...Sam & Ella are in my bedroom because I love watching them while I'm in bed & love the water flow! Love water fountains!
Well, it was interesting because my first name means Bee, which I always hate since I am allergic to them. Bee " shows us we can accomplish what seems impossible by having dedication and working hard. It asks us to pursue our dreams with incredible focus and fertilize our aspirations. Bee teaches us to cooperate with others who have similar goals so we can learn how to help each other." This does fit since I have worked very hard to achieve my goals despite what others may have thought I could accomplish. Now, I'm not one who likes working in groups UNLESS it is something for good like helping others etc. A past professor of mine (Dr. A.) always asks us to be Eagles and considering they are ones who "shows us that people with high ideals need to be able to spread their wings so they can reach for the stars. Eagle brings the gift of clarity of vision. As long as we follow our intuition we will be heading in the right direction" that may not be a bad idea...I do need to listen to my inner voice/intuition more! I can tend to second guess or think others must know what they are talking about & they don't sometimes! Like my story about being in Dr. A's class & my comments! HA!
Now my spirit is drawn to Hawks like crazy! I see them everywhere now & look for them all the time! They are "fearless birds who will even face off with poisonous snakes if necessary. Hawks piercing shriek tears through the air. In its shrill cry lies an important message which represents illumination. Hawk teaches us to scope out the situation and focus on our talents, trying to draw them out. Hawk learns to see the big picture in order to understand the past, present, and future. Hawk asks us to be observant of surroundings so we won't get distracted from our path by others. It also reminds us not to get caught up in minor annoyances so we can maintain our inner balance." I certainly do need to not get so upset about small things but hey to me all areas of life are important. I love the idea of being fearless! That I could use more of!
Now horses "represents freedom and power. Horse people are wild spirits that cannot be broken." I like that! I like Moose! I have some in my living room! "Moose calves are born with their eyes open, and those with this totem are usually born with their inner eyes open. Moose uncovers the depth of who you are and aligns you with your inherent wisdom. Moose teaches us to value ourselves and reward ourselves for a job well done." Again this is inner eyes of wisdom & I am attracted to that idea. Now Killer Whales I LOVE! I have them in my office, show my students a video on them etc. "They realize the importance of taking time out to breathe!" Oh boy...God must really have a reason I am attracted them them! That is definitely something for me to connect with!
Now I could not wait to see what it said for turtles since I have 2!
Slow metabolism...that would explain why I can look at something sweet & I will gain weight! HA! Living a long time...I'm all for that! Being patient...ya that is something I'm still trying to learn. I usually have worked hard & then accomplished what I want but still hard to be patient. Now going into shell & wait to express ideas...ha! Ask my friends! It someone hurts me that is exactly what I do. I get so upset I can't even think. I'm a ball of emotions. So I have to just be alone for a while otherwise I can't reason & can't explain anything. After being upset & resting a bit then I can reason & logically explain what is not right! Turtles like land & water & maybe that is what they mean on adaptable...although they do not adapt strictly to one so how much adaptability is interesting here! They need both & I'd say that is why I like doing many things. Perhaps it is the balance of the two & that is more what I seek. When I do too much of one thing it is not good! Probably why I'm in a few books at a time! Ha!
So what am I? I have no clue! Ha! Some kind of weird combo!
Did anyone notice they did not have Gorillas or Chimps? Highly cognitive creatures ETC! :-)
5. READER'S CHOICE QUESTION #62 from Psychfun: If you had to describe your personality as a nut (as in the eatable kind) what nut would you be and why?
Ok, I suppose I should explain this question a bit since it is mine! :-) This was a goofy question friends ask/contemplate when they are on the IM way too late in the evening! HA! About 5 years ago we had fun with this & it still crops up "What nut are you again!" when we are being goofy or one of us is being a bit grumpy or something! HA!
Lets see I think I had choosen Pistachio! HA! First I do like them...I wonder how many picked one they like alot? Then I thought about pistachios some more....they only have a crack open a bit...but there is a crack to let one in to the inner good part! Now some don't! I think that does vary at different times of my life. Next they do come in plain white shells (or is that beige?) but also those lovely red ones that leave color all over your fingers! Ha! I love that...I like to get messy in life & to get others messy! Ha! Leave my mark on others! Ha! Hopefully that is only in good ways, at least in the long run! Then you get to a very surprising center...green and a unique taste! I like to think something you would not expect from the outside! ;-) ? Was there anything else? Can't remember...maybe you can think of pistachios & see something else?
Added Note:
Via De's Thoughts reply I took the nut quiz and I came up a Sexy Pistachio! Ha! I guess I was right...well I guess about the nut part...can't say the other part necessarily...have to ask others I guess. Certainly not that bod! Ha! That is just too funny!
6. READER'S CHOICE QUESTION #63 from Chris: Who knows the "real" you better - - your real world friends or your Jland readers?
The "real me"? Well, that would mean I'd have to know the real me to be able to tell? HA! Having fun with you Chris! Maybe both of you know me better than I do? What do you want from a psych prof? I still think my BEST friends would know me more. First, I haven't been journaling here that long...since the spring & they know me longer. Also, I think they know what I journal about & then some. They have history, good and bad times of my life, know what my heart longs for & my heartaches. I mean heck I don't think any of you even know what my favorite ice cream is so... HA! You can guess if you like! Man just thinking of college friends...whoa...see they know way too much HA!
