Basic Instinct 2

Ok, who is going to see Basic Instinct 2? ;-) (View the trailer!) Looks pretty good but I guess we'll see. It opens tomorrow.

I'm headed up north to see the new Ice Age with my nieces & then there is a theater that serves dinner and has a bar too. Anyone been to one? Well they are showing Gone With the Wind this week & next. Ahhh...I think it will be cool to see it on the big screen. Hopefully I'll be able to go. Fighting a muslce tension head since 8am today! Ugh! Moving into my shoulder blade too. I need to get someone to give me a massage! ;-) Kinda upset because it was 72 degrees & I could have been outside after class enjoying it but instead I was inside trying to relax.. Almost all my students showed up though! And other prof. were commenting on how few they had. And my class was at 12:30 soo....one prof had 9/22 show up! Man! We are suppose to get nasty storms though soon.

Well I'll let you know how they are if I go! Let me know what you think too!

How Far Does Free Speech Go?

Ok, I'm sorry but I can't support this guy! Read this article & then come back!

Apparently the guy from "Super Size Me" did a speech at a High School & ridiculed the developmentally challenged, said teachers are smoking pot in the balcony & used the F Word! His defense...

"The greatest lesson those kids learned today was the importance of free speech," Spurlock said."

The students are cheering him! Well of course! Ugh! Great so they learn that they can be like this in the classroom & for that matter in personal time. You know Free Speech includes being able to speak intelligently & compassionately! Adults are suppose to be serving as role models (hence my last posting on parents at their kids baseball games too!) I suppose he'll now have to accept all the free speech of those who have complaints on him! HA!

The Upside of Birthdays!

Well, there are a few lovely things about birthdays! :-) PRESENTS! I got this shirt! What do you think? Does it look FUN! :-) Got some brown pants & a brown jacket (Yes there is brown in the shirt!) & PERFECT earings for 99 cents!! HA! I'm just so excited. Can you tell! Well, it helps...never been great with getting older so gotta have something good about getting older.

The other thing about my birthday coming around is that spring is around the bend! Well technically it is only a few days after but Mother Nature does not listen to some calendar date but man...do I have Spring Fever! I just can't wait! I also can wait for Spring Break! Two more weeks left GEEZ! We don't have it near midterm but rather near Easter & with Easter being so late we are going to be in such desperate need for it by the time it comes! I say "we" meaning students & faculty! Ha!

I also got 2 great hanging baskets for my deck today. Wood with some green moss on them! So natural! I can't wait now until after the frost so I can get my deck filled with flowers. Some of you may remember last summer wasn't the best for me since I was in a cast for the last 9 weeks! UGH! I'm hopeful this summer with be very different! I told you I was so ready for spring!

I also can't wait for baseball! :-) I'm going to try to make a Cubs game this year. YES, I like the White Sox too but I have always been a Cubs fan since I was a kid. I really just love baseball in general. Nothing like being at the ballpark. Although I do like going to lower levels too. I've been to a few Jackhammer games & they are great. My cousins sons are also in traveling teams & they are so much fun to watch. Some of those parents though...GEEZ! Don't these parents know how much their behavior can kill a kids at school. The poor kids! What pressure they put on them at such a young age. Sometimes I really do think they deserve it when they grow up & complain on Dr. Phil! HA! Have fun guys, it is not life & death & worth road raging etc. Ok, did I just get on a soap box? Ha! Oh well it came from the heart who loves the kids & wants to just cry when I see these kids feeling so bad. Just LOVE THEM no matter what!

Well...Grey's Anatomy is a rerun & since James Bond is on AMC again.... :-) Sean Connery fans will love Goldfinger now, then To Russia with Love & later Dr. No. OH MAN! I just look at the weather...60s actually at the end of the week! Woo Hoo!

James Bond Night!

Ugh! AOL just crashed on me as I was clicking save on this posting! MAJOR UGH!
*****************************************************************
"Nobody does it quite the way you do..Why'd you have to be so good?

The way that you hold me...Whenever you hold me
There's some kind of magic inside you...That keeps me from runnin'...
But just keep it comin'....How'd you learn to do the things you do?"

You can listen to a bit of it & some of Carly Simon's other songs here!

Ahhhh! I love this song! :-) I have it as my ringer for those calling me on my cell phone! Don't you think it should be a theme song for when you favorite sweetie comes home? Like at the ballpark when the batter comes up to the plate! What a confidence builder! Ha! ;-)

My next favorite is "For Your Eyes Only"! :-)

I'll have some lovely dreams tonight! Nope...still not in bed! Last night screwed me up! I haven't been up that late for months. I was at my folks with my nieces & then later my foot was bothering me & my thumb. Oh, I did something to my thumb Wed at the end of my last class. Was rubbing my hands together & pulled on my thumb too much & extreme pain!  Totally aggravated it.

Ok, I think I'll go get cozy & dream of that gorgeous Irish man! ;-)

Flower Show Pix

Ok here are some pix from the Flower Show! I had a great time Sun! I haven't been able to go for a few years with having my foot surgery so this was a real treat for my spirit! Actually my foot was ok, my shoulders had problems carrying the few bags I had but I managed without it getting too bad.

Pix 2 & 3

I had a great time heading to Chicago! It is just so beautiful! I really miss being down there on a daily basis.

Pix 4

This is on top of the Harold Washington Library which was being built when I was in graduate school at Roosevelt which is just a few blocks east.

Pix 5

Spring is popping out! The tulips were coming up near Buckingham fountain! Woo Hoo!

Pix 6 & 7

In Navy Pier they have a stain glass exhibit. I love stain glass. This is my favorite one!

Pix 8-11

This was the first thing I saw walking in to the show! It was quite cool! Go to "View Larger" to see some of these!

Pix 12-20

Tiptoeing through the tulips! :-) Don't tulips just say "Spring"! Was great to see them...especially since we are getting some more snow in a few hours! Ugh!  Then some of my favorite daisies in the last few years. Some have purple centers. I always get some of these for my deck. Hydrangeas...my grandmothers favorite flowers. They come in blue & pink. Some new varieties of roses and some colorful primroses.

Pix 21-33

Some really cool water fountains! I love water fountains! I want to make an indoor one. Love to have one in my bedroom! Actually I'd love my bathroom to have a shower that was like a natural rock wall with a waterfall! Lots of plants & big trees! ;-) Then another rock exhibit with a rock cottage missing a roof. Reminds me of some ruin in a different country. Lovely rock stream with flowers & fish too! I love the fish! I really love the wood house. I love wood! Don't know why...gazebos made from sticks etc. Finally a very cool Southwest exhibit

Pix 34-37

I loved the glass balls which were lit up! One exhibit had a gazebo which then had a few stone steps which led to a jacuzzi with a water spouting exhibit behind it. That jacuzzi looked so peaceful & romantic! ;-)

Pix 38-44

Some unusual exhibits. First some lillies in a vase with water! Then some odd thing with a tub &duckies & a flower spout. Next, something my brother can do with all his bowling balls & pins! HA! A few interesting table exhibits. Martha would be so proud!

Pix 45-50

After I was done at the Flower Show I took my bags (oops have to tell you what I got) to my car & then walked around Navy Pier and did some shopping & observing. The main stage had a Pirate Juggler Ha! He was so great with the kids. Chelsea & I had seen Elmo there several years ago!

Pix 51-54

Some pix of outside the Pier later in the evening. I haven't gone on the Carousel yet. I thought about it & then said maybe I should wait & save it for some romantic time. The Odyssey & other boats looked inviting too. I loved hearing all the sea gulls.

It was great going to the show on the last day! Everything was reduced because they wanted to get rid of it. I got a cool 3 hole birdhouse which goes against a wall for just $5! Two ivy plants for $2 each. Can't beat that price even at Wal Mart! :-) Then a real pretty burgundy violet with lots of flowers for my living room & 2 purple violets for my bedroom which are suppose to be crawling vine types. I never saw ones like that. I also got a IL birds manual. I didn't have a bird book & I like watching the birds so I thought I would start to identify what I'm seeing & keep track a bit. I got some jewelry also that was cool. Thanks Mom & Dad for sending me a check for my b-day! :-) Ha!

Well no snow yet but it is suppose to start soon...ohhhh man "Goodbye Girl" with Richard Dreyfus is on now. Gotta Go! ;-)

St. Pat's Pix

Hey, here are a few pix from my St. Pat's evening. I met my sister for dinner. Mom usually makes me Corn Beef & Cabbage for my birthday dinner since it is the next day but this year the folks are in AZ for the winter so I had to go out for some. Dad joked I could come out there but...

We headed to an Irish restaurant called Sam McGuire's but they closed the restaurant in favor of a huge tent & like 500 drunk people! HA! Well, you can't blame them, that is where they will make the $$. Craziness! The poor cops there! Then we tried Hackneys...almost as bad. Finally, we settled at Fox's.

We had a blast! They had dance troupes of kids, bagpipes & a few irish singers. I never got some green beads & some buttons...and no I didn't have to do anything for them! Ha!

The Corn Beef dinner was good but a bit cold at first. Forgot it would be like double the price than normal! HA! I had a grasshopper! No, not of the insect persuasion! The green drink! I had never had one before. Not too bad. Green ranch dressing, green horseradish...ha! Some workers were all dressed up and they had free face painting.  I was going to get my face painted but she left before I could get her to do it. My sis was just laughing. She just thinks I'm goofy but it just makes the spirit feel so good when you can have fun right! I had fun & that is all that matters! ;-)

It was even more fun watching the kids! There was this one little boy, I thought he would topple over with all the beads he had on. It was like some kind of status thing! Ha! All the girls were after him...smart little boy! HA! Then hearing these young girls grill this one boy "You SO like her!" Ha! I was just laughing so hard. I thought, I wonder how different it is when we get older...girls telling the guys they really do like a girl or convincing them into it! HA! There were quite a few gentlemen wishing me a Happy St. Patricks day...though I don't know how much they had drank already! Ha!

Well, maybe next year I'll have even more fun. I'd love to go to one of the parades even. Oh...I thought I would share some music with you too. Check out
Ken Keating's songs on his website. Not too bad, but a bit over the top on some songs.

Someone just sent me this joke & I had to share the laugh:

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, between the legs of me wife!"
That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night!

He went home and told his wife, Mary, "I won the prize for the Best toast of the night.
She said, "Aye, did ye now. And what was your toast?" John said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church beside me wife."

"Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said.

The next day, Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the street corner. The man chuckled leeringly and said, "John won the prize the other night at the pub with a toast about you, Mary."

She said, "Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised myself. You know, he's only been there twice in the last four years. Once he fell asleep, and the other time I had to pull him by the ears to make him come."

"Big Love"

Ok, who has watched this new HBO show "Big Love"? I've watched the first two episodes already & WOW! How did Bill Paxton get that role! HA! You can watch the preview, some clips from the first two episodes and interviews with the cast  here.

Ok, lets see would you share a guy with other women? Not me! Call me selfish but, I just don't get it. How do those women not mind, except maybe the idea that he is out of your hair for a bit. Like Katherine Hepburn use to say spouses should have their own homes! HA! Maybe it is like one of those vacation ideas...gone for a bit & then you actually miss them. ;-)

I suppose one could say well hey how about 1 women & 3 husbands...I'm not sure I'd really care for that either. I suppose that would be more attractive to women? I mean think about it ladies...one episode was about Bill complaining he had 3 houses & cars & bills etc. So here each guy would have his own house & you'd think that would be more attractive to women. What were those wives thinking? Not too smart. Now wait...who is cleaning 3 houses? Ha! Better add a cleaning person! Would you ladies take 3 husbands? I think most would comment it is hard enough to train/break in one! HA!

Ok, so 1 guy has to deal with 3 women being "Um Moody!" HA! And you know that dorm thing of women's clocks timing together! HA! Poor guy! HA! Don't you think this show should be on Letterman's top ten! Ha! Dave could have a blast with Bill Paxton talking to him about the show. Funny Trump didn't think of this earlier! Ha! He wouldn't had to divorce & do a prenup!

Ok, have to move on to new topics but I'm sure you can all have fun with this. More later!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yep, today is my Birthday...Cha, Cha, Cha! I have no clue why I'm really enjoying it as much as I am. Perhaps because last year was so hard with burying someone very dear to me on my birthday...but I'm just not caring & having fun!

Going to enjoy my whole weekend!

I have some St. Pats pictures from last night to share with you later tonight!

I think I'll go pamper myself & get my nails done today. Haven't since before Christmas!

Then I think I'll head up to my old high school for a craft show.

Later tonight one of my friends is treating me to dinner & drinks! It is going to be Pina Colada night! :-)  That is the next best thing to having Tom Selleck whisk me away to Hawaii for a romantic birthday weekend! HA!

The cards are starting to trickle in. My folks sent me a card with Peonies on it! Awww...one of my favorite flowers! E-cards are fun too. And I got quite a few freebee cards! Isn't it great signing up for stuff. A Free dinner at Houlihans, Dairy Queen buy 1 Blizzard get the 2nd free etc. Ha!

One of my friends from college emailed me & sent me pictures of her kids...man her oldest daughter looks just like she did in college. Made me feel old. Told her I was going to kidnap her daughter & go back to my college to have fun! HA! I never saw someone looks so much like them....long brown hair, same face & smile...freaky almost! HA!

Tomorrow I may head to the flower show. I love going to the flower show. Gets some spring fever in me...so colorful & smells great! HA!

Well, gotta get going! Let you know how it goes later! Have a great weekend yourself!

Ha! FM Lite helps...."Venus...She's Got it, Ya Baby She's Got it...Well, I'm your Venus, I'm Your Fire...You're Desire" Ha! What a great song to start having fun! :-) Ok, now imagine me dancing away from the computer.... "Ya Baby She's Got it..." :-)

Just Give Me A Beach!

Ugh! Can I just be plopped on a beach! :-) Well, security came up & listened to my voicemail which is kinda difficult to have them hear this but...

By the end he said, "It's kinda creepy!" That is what I said....lovely professional words we use huh! :-)

Well, we have figured caucasian male 37-41ish, professional and probably knows me. UGH! They are making me get escorted to my car. Better safe than sorry. They say he'll call back. So far nothing. Told me if it is some guy who is ok & just wanted to go out, to kick him in the shins & tell him to not do it this way! HA! MEN!

Keep you posted.

Never A Dull Moment!

Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry I have not been around lately. Very busy with work, 2 presentations at a Conference up north etc. And never being a dull moment, today I got a message at work which said the following:

"I find you very classy, stunning & full of passion. I would love to be able to talk with you. Hopefully we can get together soon."

The guy seemed like 30s or 40s? Low, seductive voice. I didn't recognize the voice, didn't leave any name or if we met before or anything. Kinda creeped me out for that reason. I mean you'd think one would say, "Hey saw you..." I mean I know guys get nervous too but? And heck it would be nice, but not knowing I had to have the Dean come up to listen to it. He was like definitely file a report & don't freak out yet but definitely be on guard. He made sure I would get security to take me to my car on my late evenings. He is thinking it is a student on campus but it dawned on me later it might be someone from the conference who saw me presenting.

Well, we'll see what happens. Hopefully, it will turn out for the postive & not be a problem situation ;-)
