NO BANNERS
Breathe Magazine Biography Magazine Koko Foundation Penta Water
Ok, so if they are going to put banners. then I might as well promote what I want!!!!!
Can we sue for false advertising by AOL...they certainly are not listening to the customers!
******************
So much for the AOL commercials with Julia Roberts saying AOL listens to its customers! When the heck did any of us say we wanted banners on our journals? This keeps up & everything is going to look like the racing car plastered with sponsers!
Gee...John you might have a Viagra Banner.
At the very least why not have a selection of topical banners we can choose from. Perhaps I would take educational ones etc.
How many people really are going to click on those banners when reading a journal?
I can just see looking at Judith's latest beautiful painting & saying, "You know, I do need a new mortage" and click on the banner!
I can see reading the latest Dear Abbey on Mrs. L.'s journal & saying "You know, I do need to book my hotel reservations to visit that family I miss so dearly!"
I can just see reading the latest from Love Train & saying "You know, I really do need to get some mutual funds!"
Give me a break!

14 going on 18! Ugh!
Ok, I guess I am really getting old now! Ugh! First my 8 yr old niece says a boy smiles at her on the bus & now my 14 yr old niece just told me yesterday she received her first kiss last week. Now, I'm not even going to tell her I was much younger than 14...it was a different time then! HA!
I'm not even her mom! I can't imagine if I was! YIPES! Apparently, it is the boy next door! He is a soph. and like 6 foot tall. She's about 5'6" because I'm 5'8". She also got a her nails done this weekend...acrylic with french manicure! UGHHHHHHH! I'm not ready for this! Ha! She was just this shy 5 yr old yesterday!
I did ask her if he actually asked her if he could kiss her. That makes a huge difference to me & tells me something about him. He did. Pretty good. I didn't hear her complaining so he must have passed the kiss test...then again, what does she have to compare to at this point, so he is lucky! HA! I'll have to go check this guy out! HA! Oh Boy!
Her father (my bro) seems to be taking it in stride...right! You'd think of all people he would be worried. I remember my mom saying she was not worried about "us girls". It was the boys she was more worried about! HA! Probably rightly so! I forgot to ask her if it was a "foot popping" one! HA! Actually, I'm not sure I've even had a "foot popping" one! HA!
I think my first kiss was being grabbed in a Haunted House! HA! Seriously...Catholic School no less! Ha! Some 8th grader...can't remember how old I was, maybe 6th grade? I looked older! He was good, so there wasn't a complaint from me. HA! Not sure if he thought I was someone else, but I guess I passed! Ha! I really don't count him though. There were some others, but I think the first crush is the one I'd count seriously. A guy I met at an open gym my friends & I went to. Unfortunately, his friend said he liked me & when he found out we liked each other, he decided not to bring him anymore! My first broken heart!
Do you remember your first kiss?

Pondering Away
(Thinking real hard!)
That is me...just pondering away!
I always tell my students that as we unfortunately stop asking "Why" like little kids as we get older. 40 yrs old & still asking "Why" :-) That doesn't mean I don't realize some things are meant to be. I mean, I do believe at the core everything does happen for a reason. We can't always figure it out right away & maybe are not meant to, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't attempt to figure it out & learn from mistakes etc.
I do agree with the idea of love being meant to be at times and along the lines of certain children being created by the particular parents. I suppose it is more a question of lasting love.
Feline Friday
Here are my entries for Feline Friday.
The two sides of Country! Do you have a "good side" for a profile. Not sure which is Country's best, but it does make a difference...almost like a totally different cat.
Country has Gold eyes.
Country is my jealous baby. I adopted him about 5 yrs ago from my brother. He does not like that Dusty is my first baby. He tries to let Dusty know this from time to time. This has earned him the nickname of "Osma Bin Laden" from my friends. Ha! He is very affectionate also...he just has a temper problem! HA! I guess he think I should be a 1 cat woman and he is to be the cat!!
Boy Crazy
HA! I just talked to my little 8 yr old niece on the phone. She told me....
"I don't want to tell you this but, I'll whisper it.
A boy on the bus smiled at me"
Me: "He did?"
"yep!"
Me: "What is his name?"
"I don't know"
Me: "What color hair does he have?"
"Blonde"
Me: "Just like your daddy huh"
"Yep"
Me: "How old is he? Is he the same age as you?"
"No. I think he is in (teacher's name) class"
Me: "What grade is that teacher?"
"I think 7th"
Me: (Heart Attack! HA!) "7th grade?!!!!" "Ask someone what his name is & what grade he is in" (Just like her Auntie...older men! Ha!)
"Ok, he is a couple of inches taller than me!"
Me: "Did you smile back?"
"Yep!"
Me: "Grandma & Grandpa are at their house in AZ"
"They stopped in TX for 2 days!"
Me: "Ya, that is right. Oh we have to go get a balloon & let it go to send it to them. We can go to the Card Party Place & get one"
"I know where we can get one!"
Me: "You do? Where?"
"Applebees"
Me: "HA! That is a great idea. It will be FREE! :-) Is that why you like Applebees?"
"Yep & the Grilled Cheese!"
Me: HA!
Hopefully I'll get to see her a bit tomorrow.

Timing...Kismet...Fate?
Take a look at demandnlilchit's entry on meeting her now husband. It is quite a journey. My mom also said she knew she was going to marry my dad the first time she saw him. Do you think "Love at First Sight" is always the case? I don't think so. I mean sometimes some people just "grow on you" over time.
Now the idea of timing or Kismet or fate....do you believe in it?
Just seems odd, I mean what about all the people who say it is true & then end up divorced? Anyone tracking this? Just seems like hindsight bias to me, but then what do I know? Ha!
PS:
Well, first what is up with the font size of the journal? Huge? I didn't change all these!
Some comments worth thinking about:
"I think everyone you meet is brought into your life for a reason, even when love ends up in divorce that person was supposed to be in your life at that time, does that mean it wasn't love? No, it was love but it was love on a timer, I think every affair of the heart brings you closer and closer to who you are destined to be with, brings you to the truest love. Just think of everyone who has had a hand in molding who you are, so even the person in your life that you married then divorced had a hand in who you are. Even divorced people had love, it just wasn't the right love. their truest love. Kinda like the old saying, "You have to kiss a lot of frogs before the right one turns into your prince charming! lol" - demandnlilchit
I'd have to agree with that I suppose. Did you see Brian's (The Love Train) frog? Ha!
""I'm not sure if i believe in love at first sight or not.. but never say never!
each day that you wake up you are changed in some way.. we change constantly. Sometimes people wind up divorced because they didn't change at the same pace or changed in different ways.. i believe the love was still there." - deslily
I think this is true also. It is amazing how you can still feel love for someone even when they were not very nice to you. You can love who they were at a particular time & for their potential you see.
Man Who is the Smart One?
You know...I'm not sure I wouldn't do this myself! HA! Did you see this story on Johnny Lechner who has been in college now for 12 years? When you think of it, what a life! HA! Especially if you are older & taking undergraduate courses still.
I remember taking a freshman level Home Ec. class my Sr. year just for credits & what a breeze...except for the wacked professor who thought having cravings while your pregnant was just woman wanting attention. I sat in the back of the room & was invisible the whole time until this! You should have seen it! I just couldn't contain myself and out it came "EXCUSE ME?????" All the freshman were like "She speaks!" Ha! Guess what her statistically significant research results were - "I didn't have cravings with both my sons so it is not true!" GOOD LORD! I went off on the woman how she was harming the freshman in the class etc! Ask her how that stands up to validity & reliability of research data etc. You know it was a good thing I was in that class or those freshman would have not even questioned it! Ugh! She was quite careful for the rest of the term. You should have seen the eye exchanges we had the rest of the term.
Anyway, this guy - Johnny Lechner - who is not bad looking I'll add, has a website, has been on Letterman, National Lampoon is paying his tuition now, book deals etc. How did I miss this idea? Some are finding him a bit much & others are saying he loves learning. Hmmm. Oh & I love this....
"The guy's been a student for 12 years, and he's bragging about it?" said State Representative Robin G. Kreibich, chairman of the Assembly's Committee on Colleges and Universities. "I wonder how many kids can't get in because he's staying on so long."
Well, lets see...typically students take 5 yrs on avg to complete a 4 yr degree now, so I think it might be 12-5=7! Me thinks the Representative should go back to school if he can't figure this out. Now this would also depend on if there is indeed a waiting list which Univ. Wisc. representatives say is not that case apparently. And somehow I don't think they would say 1 more student can't come in when universities are needing money right now.
I love his quotes...
"There is a time & a place for everything & it is called COLLEGE!" HA! So True! ;-)
"If I wanted a job I would have graduated." - Response to job offer from National Lampoon.
The guy has t-shirts & all kinds of goofy stuff on Ebay as well! And well you'll just have to check out his blog!
It will be interesting to see what he does when he does graduate & who all wants to offer him a job with all those credits. I would think it is going to be quite a rude awakening once he does leave college...but HECK ther is always graduate school! :-) Wonder what his parents think? Do you think he visits his original college friends with their wives & kids...love to hear those conversations. HA!
Mr. Lechner apparently sings also but the link doesn't work to listen so can't tell you what I think of his singing yet. Ha...I just thought of something, can you imagine the 18 yr old girl who tells her dad about this guy she is dating at her college & he is 29! HA! Heck, her dad may not be that much older! I'd love to be there for the conversation between dad & him! HA! I've heard of finding a husband in college but man! In fact, I remember being an RA for a summer & this one girl on my floor didn't bring much stuff with her. When I inquired about this she told me she would not be there long she was just there to find a husband. I laughed, I mean it was 1986 and even then I thought that was a bit old & sad for her. You know what...she had one probably by mid semester! And guess who....the big body builder macho womanizer! He was like a puppy dog following her everywhere & I thought I'd get sick with one more "Yes, Dear" from him! UGH!
Well, check out those links& let me know what you think.

Goodbye...
'Cause m' baby goodbye
doesn't mean forever, let me tell you
goodbye, doesn't mean We'll never
be together again, If you wake up and i'm
not there, I won't be long away 'cause the things you
do my goodbye girl will bring me back to you......
Sorry just had to sing along with the ending of the movie! The original was on tonight & now I can go have sweet dreams! ;-) (Rest of lyrics below!)
I love the line when Richard Dreyfuss shouts, "I hate all those men who came before. They've ruined it for me!"
And you gotta love a man who finds you sexy & wants to kiss you with a mud mask on! HA!
What is it about Richard Dreyfuss? I have no clue? This mix of attractive, adorable & goofy! Ha! And those eyes & smile...man he is just a devil! ;-) I'm just laughing thinking about him. How can you not fall in love with him? Ok, probably just me! HA! I saw him last fall on CNN for some type of debate? Wish I could remember. Some college I believe? He was great!
Is it just me or do you think he might be great on Boston Legal?
Sweet Dreams!
***************
Goodbye Girl
All your life you've waited
for love to come and stay, and now
that i have found you must not slip away
I know it's hard believin'
the words you've heard before,
but darlin' you must trust them just once more.
( Chorus )
'Cause m' baby goodbye
doesn't mean forever, let me tell you
goodbye, doesn't mean We'll never
be together again, If you wake up and i'm
not there, I won't be long away 'cause the things you
do my goodbye girl will bring me back to you.
I know you've been taken, afraid to hurt again
you fight the love
you feel for me Instead of givin' in
But i can wait forever By helpin' you to see
that i was mean't for you and you for me.
( Chorus )
So remember goodbye doesn't mean
forever let me tellyou goodbye doesn't mean we'll
never be together again
Though we may be so far apart you still
would have my heart
So forget your past, my goodbye girl
'Cause now you're home at last.

Love is Love!!!
I received this in my email today & thought I'd share it with you. As with most chain emails, I have no clue who it originally came from, so if you are the owner of these photos & do not like me posting them, just simply let me know.
I love animals so it would not be surprising I'd love this. In fact, I'd probably be just like this woman & bring the squirrel in my place! HA! See why no sane man has wanted to be crazy with me! HA! Ohhhh but what fun he is missing, I tell ya!! :-)
Actually, when I think about it, you can blame my mom! HA! I still remember the day, sometime in grammar school, when my mom brought home a bunch of baby bunnies from the front of our school & hand fed them. The lawn maintenance guy had scared the mother away. My mom watched & the mother never came back or maybe it was killed? Have to ask mom again. So mom just said to my dad "Guess what dear...your a dad again!" Ha! Well hope you enjoy this!
**************
This is "Finnegan" the Squirrel. (Guess he is Irish huh!) ;-)
For about as long as she can remember, Debby Cantlon says, friends and strangers have brought her animals in need. So it wasn't much of a surprise when someone asked her if she'd care for a newborn squirrel found at the base of a tree somewhere near Renton.
Debby Cantlon, who plans to release Finnegan, the young squirrel, back into the wild, bottle-fed the infant squirrel after it was brought to her house. Cantlon, who has cancer, says rescuing injured animals is therapeutic for her.
When Cantlon took in the tiny creature and began caring for him, she found herself with an unlikely nurse's aide: her pregnant Papillon, Mademoiselle Giselle.
Finnegan was resting in a nest in a cage just days before Giselle was due to deliver her puppies.
Cantlon and her husband watched as the dog dragged the squirrel's cage - twice - to her own bedside before she gave birth.
Cantlon was concerned, yet ultimately decided to allow the squirrel out - and the inter-species bonding began.
Finnegan rides a puppy mosh pit of sorts, burrowing in for warmth after feeding, and eventually working his way beneath his new litter mates.
Two days after giving birth, mama dog Giselle allowed Finnegan to nurse; family photos and a videotape show her encouraging him to suckle alongside her litter of five pups.
Now, Finnegan mostly uses a bottle, but still snuggles with his "siblings" in a mosh pit of puppies, rolling atop their bodies and sinking in deeply for a nap.
Finnegan and his new litter mates, five Papillion puppies, get along together as if they were meant to.
Finnegan naps after feeding.
Finnegan makes himself at home with his new litter mates, nuzzling nose-to-nose for a nap after feeding.

Miracles
Haven't been feeling great today so I just finished watching "Miracle"! WOW! I LOVED IT!
I never was at all into hockey...B..U..T......HA! I was a freshman in high school when the 1980 Olympics was going on. I do remember watching Nadia Comaneci. Did you know Nadia & Bart Connors (of the 1984 Olympics) are married & have a gymnastics academy?
Take a look at this great site with some comparisons of the characters from the movie Miracle & the real individuals they portrayed. As I watched the movie I remember that feeling of striving for something from my days in college & graduate school. Hmmm! I imagine the White Sox are feeling very similar to the 1980 Olympic Hockey team. Think there will be a movie on them? :-) What title would you give it since Miracle is already taken? Ha!
Check out the official sites for the 2006 & 2008 Olympic info! The Winter Olympics run from February 10th-26th! Here is the official site.
I'm watching ice skating right now & the Canadian pairs actually looked great moving to the theme from "Somewhere In Time", which I love! I was thrilled to go to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island just because of this movie! This is where I did a Labyrinth for the first time & LOVED IT! Check out the site there is an explanation at the end of the site!
Well, back to watching...later!

Its Raining, Its Pouring...
And the cats are snoring....well I don't have an "Old Man" so! HA!
Some major "boom booms" here! One sounded like firecrackers. Never heard thunder like that before. We're still in some major yellow/orange cover on the Weather Channel. Man if it just was cold...this would be major snow probably! :-)
Well, I did get a good amount of shopping down at Penneys! MAJOR sales! 1/2 off & then coupons for $10 or $15 off if you spent a certain amount. Got my 14 yr old niece things for her newly painted lime green bedroom. Squoosh pillows with Lucky Charms, Dubble Bubble, Sprees & Jolly Ranchers. Shhh don't tell her! :-) A lovely lime green blanket & furry pillow too. Found my little niece a zebra ornament & a pink blanket. Few other things too.
My only problem is I'm sooooo slow. Haven't mentioned it yet but I found out about a week & half ago that I'm very anemic. I had been telling the doctor since we went back to school I was very exhausted. I'm use to doing like 5 things a day & I was so exhausted I didn't think I could drive home one day. Well, then I started to feel odd...no not my usually "odd" Ha! Went to the ER. My intern's nurse was like you have been on crutches for 9 weeks & only walking 20 min an hr you would be exhausted but I was thinking, ya I was in the fall when I had foot surgery & I wasn't like this. They never listen. Just like my foot, 6 doctors before they finally listen and find out I lost 92% of my muscle! UGH! Well they said I was still above the line of needing blood but can't really afford to get much worse. It has really been a year that is for sure!
You know this drive through service of doctors is really irritating me lately! Heck, Drive Throughs are slower than doctors. Well, doctors & test last week. I had gone up about .6 from just eating iron rich foods. Now I'm on 2 iron pills a day. Other tests so far good but waiting for the results of one more next week. I have off next Friday for Veteran's Day & I need it.
Tomorrow my family is heading to The Festival of the Trees. This mall has trees that are sponsored & some are silent auction & some are raffles. Now trees is saying it lightly. The Barbie tree has tons of Barbies, the house, sometimes a 4 wheeler. They have trips, dining room sets, and BIG CASH! Sometimes they even have cars! Can't wait to see this year. The proceeds go to charity. I'll try to take some pictures. May have to sit often, especially since I can't use a wheel chair even, with my thumbs being sore (read my All About Me Section...yes it is definitely pouring, not just literally).
Crush On Rod!
Heading out in a bit to do a bit of Christmas Shopping. Thought I would share
Rod Stewart's 'I've Got A Crush On You' which I'm listening to right now! :-)
You know I must be getting old because I am really liking his new style. In fact, John's recent entry with Paul Anka's new album has me going to head & buy his album. Well, I have journaled about liking Michael Buble's album also!
Well, I did like this music when I was younger to, must be the influence from my parent's generation as a kid. Just the thought of spontaneously softly dancing in the kitchen with someone you love! Ahhhh...
Ok, off to the sale madness! Wish me good bargains!
I Feel The Need, The Need For....
SPEED..............................
Here you go Tom Cruise! :-)
The 2006 Saleen S7 which supposedly can drive upside down going 160 miles per hour! Anyone want to put it on your List to Santa? :-) Santa is going to have to find some corporate sponsors at $555,000 a pop! HA!
The 2006 version was put on steroids & increased to 570 horsepower & 700 lbs of torque! It will handle 60mph in 2.8 seconds and hits 100 mph in 6 sec. It can go more than 200 mph! OHHHH BABY! ;-) Wonder what that does to the body though? That is going to jiggle that brain! :-) Now a guy that has one...what does that mean! HA! Then again what does that mean if a woman has one! HMMM....HA!
I imagine this would not be something a cop wants to see on the road! HA! Not to mention many of us. I guess you really do get away with getting a ticket with this. Good thing it is so expensive and not everyone can get their hands on one.
Speaking of cops...
Check out the conversation with one and someone driving a Lamborghini Murcielago. That is funny!
Now that will help Santa out a bit at ONLY $279,900! HA!
Now if you're not going to drive these at top speed then why have them? I know EGO, but that is just pathetic to me! And I just don't get why a guy would want it to attract women? Do you really want a woman who just wants you because of this car? I'll never get that! Then you wonder why they cheat or leave you when that is all they value in you!
And why build a car to do this when people can't drive to its potential. I mean work on the racecars but for commercial? I know we make alcohol & cigarettes etc so....just always seems odd to me that we create things that can harm. Ya, I know my hair dryer has the chance of blowing up in my face too (someone knock on wood, I only have a cheap simulated wood desk here! HA!) Just seems like an accident in the making. And to destroy such a thing of beauty! :-)
Hey, where is that guy that just won the 390M lotto...he can afford this now! Where you going to take this & park it? Can you imagine the parking attendants...like in Ferris Beuller! HA!
Boys & their toys! Ha! See this is why you need a woman...keep you out of trouble! HA! Then again....if I could hmmmm! HA!
So whatcha think?

Lessons of Life
I received this today & really liked it so I thought I'd share it with all of you!
********
Lessons on Life
There was a man who had four sons.
He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.
Moral:
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
Don't judge life by one difficult season.
Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later.

Wknd Asgn #84: What's Happening Here?
I thought we'd try something a little different for this week's Weekend Assignment, something to stretch those creative muscles in your brain:
Weekend Assignment #84: Take a look at the picture below. Tell us what you think is going on in the picture. You can write as long as you want, or as short as you like -- even a photo caption works. Now, it's a fairly weird picture, but I thought that would just give you more to work with. Ready? Here you go:
Hey, I told you it was odd. Remember, I am a science fiction writer.
(And yes, you can borrow the picture when you write it up in your blog or journal. Here's the direct URL; you can just copy the URL and link directly to the picture or download it onto your computer and into your own Hometown space. Also feel free to fiddle with it in a photo-editing program if you have one and you want to.)
Extra Credit: Would you like to see more "explain what's going on in the picture" sort of assignments? Not every one would be as odd as this one, mind you. But I want to keep the assignments fresh and fun, and this might be a way to do it from time to time.
Remember, the purpose of the Weekend Assignment is to go back to your own blog or journal, write up the assignment, and then come back here to leave a link in the comment thread. Commenting directly is fine if you don't have a blog or journal (although you can always make one!), but if you do, leaving a link after writing up your Weekend Assignment is a great way to get people to visit your Journal and see what's happening.
You've got the photo above: Now tell us all what you think is going on! Personally, I'm very interested to see what you all come up with.

Not Just an Ordinary Lunchbox!
Hillary Swank
Check out the Lunchbox.org site! They are auctioning celebrity lunchboxes to benefit the FoodBank of NY City! Other major cities should be doing this!!
On the site you need to click on their logos...kinda confusing. Scroll down to the bottom & view the current bids. Look at Bono price! Way ahead...do you think he is padding his own price? Ha! Especially looking the box. Click on the Item number. Must be just the name, because it doesn't thrill me! John Kerry's interesting. Karen Elson...hmmm guess that is ART! HA!
If you were going to design a lunchbox what would it look like?
Another Favorite: Cousins
Ahhh the last two nights Cousins has been on. I really like this movie. I think it is how free and inspiring the love is between Ted's & Isabella's characters. The way they look at each other and how they try to stay away from each other but just can't because it is love.
I think the idea that staying married for the sake of the children is not ideal is also important. There has been much research that this is not really going to work unless the relationship changes, but for that matter a divorce can be just a piece of paper if all the bitter fighting continues afterwards.
Such a love though..hmmm!
Of course it may also be Lloyd Bridges' line "You have only 1 life to live and you can make it Chicken Shit or Chicken Salad!" HA!
