My New Toy & Random Neuron Firing!

Ugh...3 hours of sleep last night! Had to get up early for our all day In-Service meetings...ICK! I'm still not good in the mornings! Getting better until that cold hit me a few weeks ago & screwed up my hours again. Falling Back soon will definitely help me! ;-) I did finally order my upgrade! :-) I am goingto try the MDA. It should arrive Fri morning. I'm so excited! I was going to get Verizon's Q & they had an educational discount on it & services but then the internet package was so much cheaper with T-Mobile since I was just upgrading. We'll see...I have 14 days so...

You know it really bugs me that people make assumptions. Why don't they go to the source & ask & find out. People just think they know someone or what they do & they really do not investigate. They just listen to gossip. I mean it is so logical...obviously there is gossip or assumptions about yourself that is not true so why wouldn't you assume gossip or assumptions about another may not be true. We look at a person & just download the whole list of characteristics. It just amazes me how much people really do this! I don't know if I just never saw it before or as much or if it is getting worse. Maybe I never payed attention to it before.

Ok, ok, I'm not saying I never do it myself! I can think of a certain gentleman in college that I thought was a complete jerk (probably some stronger word used then!) because he was to me the first time I met him...but so I was young & stupid then! HA! Well, later he was nicer & I did say maybe he isn't so bad but he never did anything more about it so...Anyways it has been irritating me more lately that people do not take the time to find out & they miss out on so much in life. The tendency to just see the negative in people rather than the strengths. And you know there is something even more...when people see another not doing well why do we just say they are a jerk & not be empathic & say I wonder what is bothering them or why they are like this, either at the moment or overall? Maybe their home life is "unacceptable" (remember Breakfast Club?).

Can you see why I'm in psych now! HA! Yep, I was like this when I was a kid! Must have drove my parents crazy...not Why is the sky blue? but why do parents call their kids names? Probably why I always sat at the adult table at family parties rather than the kiddie table! HA!

You will have to excuse my jumping to topics as my lack of sleep has my brain firing strange. I was watching "Little Giants" with Rick Moranis just a bit ago. Did I tell  you I got to talk to him last spring? Yep! He called me when I requested to use his Agoraphobic Cowboy song for my class & a conference. We had a lovely 30 min conversation. Great guy. Then later we discussed ideas for a video! :-) Well, I'm watching Little Giants & I know it is a bit dated but you know he is just adorable! Yes, I like the goofiness that guys can have. When they can make me laugh so much I'm in tears they got me! ;-)

Man this brain is really going...I have to go to bed! Can't keep my eyes open! More tomorrow!

Definitely a "Trick or Treat!" HA!

Yep, my bathroom fire alarm battery is going for about oh 2 weeks now! Ha! I have the battery just have to get it in. Anyone want to do it for me? See, it times like this I could use a nice brawny guy around! HA! Perferable in short cut offs & no shirt! ;-) Man....I'm in a interesting mood! HA!

Ok, someone emailed me Dolly Parton's "PMS Blues" song today & I thought it was hilarious! HA! No, I don't think he sent it for a reason but....ha! Now, somehow I'm thinking that most guys would take the "Trick" of PMS Blues from Dolly for the later "Treat"! HA! No, I didn't insert the picture so you can enlarge it...I didn't want you guys drooling all over your computers! HA! I can just hear them say "I'll go Trick or Treating with her!" HA! Yes, ladies if you email me I'll send it to you large so you can use it as a dart board! Ha! Just kidding! I know it is probably "such a curse" for Dolly to look like that! HA! Well, enjoy the song!

A bit of Humor

My cousin sent these to me this morning & they are too funny!  You know as much as we my shake our heads at our teens, I think it is great too. How creative is that! I'm sure we could come up with some also. I need a laugh I know. I thought you might also so I wanted to share them with you! Enjoy! :-)

Intellectual Prose

Every year, English teachers from across the country can submit their collections of actual analogies and metaphors found in high school essays. These excerpts are published each year to the amusement of teachers across the country. Here are last year's winners.....

1. Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master.

2. His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.

3. He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it.

4. She grew on him like she was a colony of E. Coli, and he was room-temperature Canadian beef.

5. She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.

6. Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever.

7. He was as tall as a six-foot, three-inch tree.

8. The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated because of his wife's infidelity came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free ATM machine.

9. The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't.

10. McBride fell 12 stories, hitting the pavement like a Hefty bag filled with vegetable soup.

11. From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation in another city and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 p. m. instead of 7:30.

12. Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze.

13. The hailstones leaped from the pavement, just like maggots when you fry themin hot grease.

[Fried Maggots - who in the world fries maggots?!?]

14. Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p. m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p. m. at a speed of 35 mph.

15. They lived in a typical suburban neighborhood with picket fences that resembled Nancy Kerrigan's teeth.

16. John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.

17. He fell for her like his heart was a mob informant, and she was the East River.

18. Even in his last years, Granddad had a mind like a steel trap, only one that had been left out so long, it had rusted shut.

19. Shots rang out, as shots are wont to do.

20. The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work.

21. The young fighter had a hungry look, the kind you get from not eating for a while.

22. He was as lame as a duck Not the metaphorical lame duck, either, but a real duck that was actually lame, maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

23. The ballerina rose gracefully en Pointe and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a fire hydrant.

24. It was an American tradition, like fathers chasing kids around with power tools.

25. He was deeply in love. When she spoke, he thought he heard bells, as if she were a garbage truck backing up.

Some Feminine Strength! ;-)

Well, I have a lot to post. I've been working on the computer all weekend, trying to chill as my doc wanted me to. Well, sort of...I was working on stuff for my students so not quite as relaxing as it could be but at least I wasn't thinking of what I all had to do & getting behind etc. My normal voice is coming back but this cold is still lingering and I'm really tired from the whole thing.

I did go to see "The Guardian" this afternoon with Kevin Kostner. I'll post on that later. I just thought a bit of Kevin would make me feel "all better now!"

Well,
Robin is not feeling too great & I left her a comment on a song that has been really making me strong lately. I've been blasting it in my SUV on the way to work for the past 2 weeks probably. It really raises your spirits & makes you strong! It is by Taylor Dayne. Do you remember her? "Tell it To My Heart", "Love Will Lead You Back" (I Love!), "Send Me A Lover" (Can't listen without Crying!)  If you go to Media on her website there is a media video you can watch to remind you of these songs!   AOL also has samples of each song here!

Well, there is just something about her spirit? My spirit just seems to have some kind of connection. Wynnona too. Must be the low growly devil spirit!  HA!  The song I have been playing lately is called "Stand" and I'm going to post the lyrice below for Robin & anyone else that may find it helpful! I love the whole "Naked Without You" CD! "Unstoppable" is great too. I really like"Whenever You Fall". It is quite a lovely thought about what Love is! I remember I was walking with a wonderful guy in a store one time just browsing & it was playing in the store. I was like Wow! It really made me wonder....

I just noticed she is suppose to be singing the National Anthem at the First Game of the World Series on Tues night! YES! That should be great!

Well, hope this helps Robin! The Strength is in you...just have to find it! Somedays it is hard for all of us!

(S. Saraco, H. Hey)

Stand
Stand
So I will stand with my head held high
Even though I'
m up against the wind
Stand
And I know I will survive
It is my destiny
Ah ah
With my head held high
I won't fall down
With my head held high
I won't surrender
I know I'm not the only one
To ever stand alone in the dark
Not knowing how I'm going to carry on
But sure I never will surrender
I know exactly who I am
And that theres a purpose and a plan
So I will stand
With my head held high
Even though I'm up against the wind
And I know I will survive
It is my destiny
All right
With my head held high
I won't fall down
With my head held high
I won't surrender
I believe that theres a higher love
Its give me the power
To find my way through the worst times
Turn them into my finest hour
And with this strength I will move on
No matter how hard I won't fall down
So I will stand
With my head held high
Even though I'm up against the wind
Stand
And I know I will survive
It is my destiny
oh
I will stand
With my head held high
Oh oh oh oh
Stand
Even though I'm up against the wind
Stand
And I know I will survive
It is my destiny
Oh
Stand
With my head held high
Oh
Stand
In my life
With my head held high
Paid the price
Oh oh oh
In my life
Paid the price
With my head held high
Oh oh oh
In my life.I made my own choices
Paid the pricewith my share of losses
But eachtime I only get stronger
And I know I've got the power inside
I will stand with my head held high
Even though I'm up against the wind
Stand
And I know I will survive
It is my destiny
I will stand with my head held high
Even though I'm up against the wind
Stand
And I know I will survive
It is my destiny
So I will stand with my head held high
Even though I'm up against the wind
Stand
And I know I will survive
It is my destiny

Brrr....But Trying!

Well, I woke up early & so I didn't get much sleep. Ugh!  Always takes me about an hour when I get up & get meds in me to even feel like eating that is why I sometimes don't. Just finished though & thought I'd let you know I am going to try to go to work today.

I have an appointmentt up north with the doc in the afternoon and then I have to return for my evening class. I'm hoping I can handle it if I bring water or juice. My voice is still pretty low but I don't think it is laryngitis so I don't think talking will make it worse. Energy, now that is another thing. We'll see. At least my 3 hour evening class I'll just have to do an hour & then we have "Crash" showing on campus for the students so we are all going to see that so it is fresh in our minds & we can use it in class.

I headed to get some groceries last night - SOUP! UGH! I really didn't feel like it. I knew there was a reason to get married! HA! Not that I see it as a "have to thing" but hopefully someone would go eagerly because they loved me. I mean that is what it is suppose to be about right. It was a challenge pushing that cart! Then when I came home I had to get the plants off my deck since it was going to freeze. It was 35 when I woke up. 42 now. You know I think Weathermen (woman!) should get paid per how accurate they are. They drive me crazy! They have put snow on & off the forcast so much for this morning I can't keep up. I was just starting to get excited thinking it might cheer me up & now it is off again. Ugh!  Looks like it is a bit up north, maybe an hour from me though. Last couple of years we keep missing the big snows. It is almost like a hole around us. Everyone surrounding us gets it but we miss it? Strange. We'll see this winter. I check & it is 87 today in AZ where my folks have a winter place. They are leaving to go back I think the end of next week. I now know why! HA! I think I'll go too!  Well I'll let you know how it goes later tonight. Stay warm & have a great day.

Still Icky!

Well, called the doc today. Said to give it one more day & see how I am. Colds normally last 10 days...did you know that? I didn't know that. Said the 5th day you usally see it getting better. Tomorrow will be my fifth day so, ok I'll wait one more day. Only had 99 today so that isn't too bad. My head is starting to hurt in the last hour though. Haven't been sleeping very well though.

I'm very pissed though! Comcast got a nasty call from me tonight. I turn on the tv & I'm checking for Ted Danson's new show "Help Me Help You" & Dancing With the Stars is on still. They are talking in Spanish! I'm like what is that! No other channels were doing that. Then when Ted's show came on & it was just broken up audio...then I got really pissed because it meant I missed Boston Legal! Ugh!!!! I missed last week because I was traveling! So anyone who has watched the last too weeks please email me what is happening! I saw tonight the guy that was in Upside of Anger.

They took off the snow for Thurs & now they have flurries back. Odd...I love snow but I'm in denial on this coming? Don't know why. Maybe because I'm sick & can't play in it. I love the snow where I grew up. All wooded, so it would look like a winter wonderland...like snow castles. I remember this one guy I was dating, it had been snowing all evening while we were out & stopped by the time we got back about 11pm or so. We went walking through the streets in the snow at night with the stars. You know that hush when you have a heavy snow & the crispness of new snow. It was very lovely & romantic...though wrong guy to have it with! HA!

I need to try on my winter coats & get a new one I think...my long one is no lie...from 1987! I had it in grad school! It is great though with a hood & thick! The one's with hoods now are sooo thin! I want a black leather stadium coat with the brown fur on the hood too but can't find one.I had a plum stadium & that is so old it has no lining to it anymore. See when I fall in love, then that is it...you got me forever! HA! Maybe I just want to enjoy the fall before we get into Thanksgiving & Christmas. It all goes by so fast. I do have some Christmas presents already though.

I'm not going into work again tomorrow but not quite sure yet if I'm canceling my classes or getting someone to cover them. I feel so out of it, not being in my regular routine & being able to do what I love to do, but at the same time I know I can't. I just don't have the energy & I would look pretty pathetic dealing with this cold in class. Well, hopefully I'll be much better by tomorrow evening. Starting to get tired so I think I'll lie down & see if I can fall asleep for awhile, now that I can breath better. HA....did you see the new Volvo commercial with the little girl telling her dad so much...I LOVE IT! I'd love a girl like that. That was probably me! I
can't think anymore...gotta go! I know that is pretty major for me! HA! Later!
